Relationships are hard. Connection is difficult. We say these things, but are they really true? We were made for connection, after all. We were made to be in relationship. So, if relationship and connection are what we were made for, why are they such a challenge to obtain and maintain?

Consider that busyness, overload, and overwhelm have clouded our view of how to have authentic connection and healthy relationships. They’ve led us to believe that we only have time for cursory virtual social networks rather than deep, authentic face-to-face ones where we experience the full gamut of nonverbal cues that enrich and deepen our interactions.

With small steps that add up over time to make a big difference, we can reclaim relationship and connection in our lives. We can make them priorities. In doing so, we will not only find parts of us we’ve lost but also see a way forward that is simpler and filled with love in ways we forgot were possible.
