Global Tension

The news is depressing Local. National. World. Doesn’t matter. Who knows how much of it’s actually true either. I want to be aware, but I get so overwhelmed by it all. I feel tension when I read/watch the news. Seems out of control and spiraling, and I feel helpless.

Psalm 94 speaks in two major ways regarding this particular source of tension.

  1. It’s nothing new.
  2. God offers relief.

Wickedness. Arrogance. Oppression. Turning from God. Living as if God has turned away. As evident today as it was when the psalmist wrote Psalm 94. God hasn’t turned away, though. He still disciplines out of love. He still rewards righteousness too.

Personal God

God is on the side of justice. He protects those who are upright, who honor him with their attitude, actions, and words.

He promises protection, help, and support in a tumultuous world. His unfailing love supports and encourages. We can find comfort and renewed hope and cheer in our God who never changes.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)
